Life Travels of the Founder

Because 60 to 80 cats and kittens are free-roaming at our Adoption Center, we have been forced to develop policies that guarantee the safety and reduce stress of our felines. Following problems with the public, including 3 thefts of cats, children chasing kittens, a parent filing a complaint with the police because a vaccine syringe was left on a shelf, and many other problems, we have limited access to our cats to those who are seriously considering adopting or support our program. We are sorry to have to take these steps but our shelter is very unique and the nature of the general public in today's world has forced these changes.

We arre grateful to those who adopt from us because without adoptions we are not able to help other cats. In our unique adoption environment you will meet many felines that will greet you at the door and interact with you. You will find our cats to be healthy, emotionally and physically. You will witness their persoanlities and find one that will bond with you because they are not unduly stressed since they are not kept in cages.

If you are a person or family that we agree to adopt to, as per adoption policies, $10.00 is required to visiting our cats. Should you adopt within 7 days, the $10.00 will be deducted from the adoption fee. Should you choose not to adopt then the $10.00 will be considered a donation to support our important work and help pay our many expenses. We hope you understand.

Some visitors simply love cats and desire to enjoy petting and loving our felines. A simple $10.00 donation will open our door for you to be given the freedom to wonder throught our adoption center to pet all of our beautiful. This is termed as a Tour.

If you are interested in adopting, please telephone us in advance so we can we can expect your arrival. We can be more helpful if we know you are coming.

These are just some of the adult cats available for adoption through Friends of Pets of Klamath Basin. Because we do not euthanize our cats to create space to take in more, we have a population buildup of felines that need homes. Maintaining a no-kill program for adoptable felines leaves a range of 100 to 150 felines in our program at any one time. We house 30 to 60 of these adult cats at our "free-roaming" FPKB Store & Adoption Center 239 Main St., Klamath Falls, Oregon, 541- 850-0750. The rest are maintained at Cat Haven (Rescue Facility) in a rural setting or in foster homes. Please call or visit our Adoption Center for more information. Adoption Policies and Procedures apply.

Our adoption fee for adults is $60.00. All are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, wormed, microchipped, and tested for FELV/FIV prior to being available for adoption. Included in the adoption fee is the registion cost for the microchip under your name with PetLink for the lifetime of your cat.

We use Science Diet Cat Food and participate in the Science Diet Shelter Program.
