ADOPTION Advised Procedures to Spay/Neuter Ferals A Cat's First Month in Our Program Collar Your Cat but Make It Safe! Explanation Why Cats Die in Our Shelter
|
Friends of Pets of Klamath Basin held our annual meeting on January 31, 2007, completing our sixth year of incorporation. During 2006 we took in 583 felines, of which 436 were kittens. Two hundred fifty-two (43%) of this number, mostly kittens, died. Feline leukemia, FIV, or FIP viruses were the cause of 20 deaths. The number of felines adopted was 198, or 60%. The remaining felines are still waiting for homes or living at the sanctuary. Eight hundred ninety cats were spayed/neutered through the Friends of Pets programs. Our group has helped spay/neuter 6,480 cats since formation. We accepted $86,016.00 in donations and spent $27,872 for direct health care and veterinary supplies for our cats. The remaining part of the budget was dedicated to advertising, office maintenance, and other operational needs. Goals for 2007 include maintaining a high level of care for abandoned felines, increasing spay/neuters in our community, and building a new facility. Financial donations to help our group complete these goals would be greatly appreciated. Prepared by, Kathleen Williams President
